Designed towards the elderly demographic, this object reimagines an umbrella as an object around the body rather than against it.
The handle is designed with an elderly individual in mind, it is angled and weighted in order to enable it to be carried comfortably by the side of the user in a relaxed, arm-down position, thereby eliminating the strain of a raised conventional grip and enabling the umbrella to feel like an extension of the hand rather than a burden.
This form is not just random for aesthetic purposes, it draws on Le Corbusier's Modular, a proportionality system which is rooted in golden ratio and the human figure. The handle length, the canopy span, the curve of the shaft, ever dimension is scaled with these proportions in mind, producing a umbrella which sits naturally within the geometry of the user.
