Helix umbrella
This section focuses on the early development of the Helix umbrella. This includes the sketches, proportional sketches, and explorations of the golden ratio concept that shape the final form of the product.
This focus on this stage was not solely on aesthetics, but also posture to understand how the elderly user holds an object at their side and what the umbrella needs to become in order to sit comfortably within that rested hand position. The work is rough, annotated, and intentionally exploratory, capturing the reasoning behind each decision.
The drawings focus on handle angles, weight distribution, as well as curvature, and are inspired by modular proportions and references.
